The Collages 2015
"Our brains are built to wrest familiar meaning from the confusions of the world."
Helen MacDonald, ON NATURE, New York Times, December 20, 2015
Looking through a stack of unfinished, unrealized drawings I had done over the last year, I knew I wanted to keep certain images. Perhaps only a particularly beautiful line, or wash of color would need "saving," some scrap of an idea or image that reminded me of some detail of my life. I began to tear the drawings into whatever sizes would best keep detail, and started adding other fragments to strengthen and clarify what had originally caught my eye.
